Mary V. McGhee has spent her career in public service in both local and state government as well as serving in multiple leadership roles on public and non-profit boards at the local, state and national level. In March of 2015 Mary retired from her role as the Director of Division of Boards and Commissions, at the Colorado Department of Human Services, where she was responsible for Department level management and oversight of all CDHS activities related to boards, commissions and councils as well as management of the Department’s rulemaking process as well as managing multiple high level special projects. The Division also served as the Executive Director’s designee in managing the Office of Appeals (OOA) responsible for responding to appeals of adverse actions.

Prior to her service at the Department of Human Services, Mary spent 14 years at the Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Justice where she first worked in the Office for Victim’s Programs where she managed multiple state and federal grant programs, provided technical assistance and training to local policy makers and appointed boards. She spent her last 7 years, at CDPS, as the Senior Policy Analyst and Legislative Liaison.

Mary has undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Psychology. She has basic and advanced mediation training and extensive experience serving as a mediator, in multiple settings. She has extensive training and experience in community crisis response, focused primarily on criminal justice settings.

Mary is a recognized subject matter expert in numerous areas and is actively engaged in consulting and contracting and consulting at the local, state and national level. She is active (in a volunteer capacity) as a board member and volunteer for multiple organizations focused on crime victim rights, restorative justice and animal welfare.
