The Zehr Institute of Restorative Justice is hosting an online course introducing restorative justice and it's applications for law enforcement, specifically incorporating restorative justice within an agency and in collaboration with their communities. The course will be co-taught by Officer Vanessa Westley, a 25-year veteran with the Chicago Police Department, and Professor Carl Stauffer, co-director of the Zehr Institute and begins Tuesday, March 13, from3-4:30 p.m. (EST)and continues through four consecutive Tuesdays through April 3.

The course builds upon a November 2016 restorative justice retreat co-hosted by the Zehr Institute and Harrisonburg Police Department in Virginia. Agencies from four states — California, Illinois, Massachusetts and Virginia — who have led implementation of restorative justice practices in their respective jurisdictions, were represented by executive leadership.
