This is a 25-hour Facilitator Training to prepare you to facilitate restorative justice circles using both the Community Group Conference and Victim Offender Dialogue models of conferencing. Participants will be prepared specifically to facilitate circles for our program, which is housed within the Boulder County District Attorney’s Restorative Diversion Program. Victims and harmed individuals, family members and supports, law enforcement, school personnel, and other community members are empowered to participate in a facilitated restorative justice process that supports the person who committed the crime to understand the impact of their actions, take meaningful responsibility, and repair the harm to the extent possible. Our training will focus on the principles of restorative justice, the process from preconferencing to debrief, and experiential practice of the various components of facilitation. Participants must submit an application and interview prior to acceptance into the training. In order to volunteer for our program, they must complete all 25 hours of training and be willing to complete a background check once training is complete. Once complete with all of these requirements, volunteers must attend four volunteer meetings per year. There is no minimum number of hours required.
