Restorative Justice is a different way of looking at life and relationships between one another. We can have positive relationships with one another and feel safe taking responsibility for harm we have caused to others. We can work to restore relationships among each other by recognizing that certain actions, not people, cause harm to people and communities, and that harm can be repaired. Youth need a different way to look at their actions other than the traditional punitive model we have socially constructed and institutionalized. Youth respond better to intervention if they are treated as a person and not a criminal/delinquent.
