Restorative Roles

Being relatively new to Cole Arts & Science Academy and the neighborhood and community as a whole, I used affective statements and restorative dialogue to build relationships with students as a Restorative Justice Coordinator at our elementary school. This year, I am pushing a school-wide shift from punitive to restorative disciplinary measures. These include modifying school-wide behavior policy to reflect the pre-existing PBIS values already in place, implementing cool-off spots in every classroom, and leading trainings with staff on cultural responsiveness.
